So without any further ado, I press start.

The first big surprise in Wario Land is the fact that Wario doesn't wear his traditional cap. Instead, he wears a helmet.

Continuuuuuuuuuue!

Ok, ready to roll.

The game itself doesn't reveal the start of the plot, so you have to check the enclosed instruction book to know it.

Referring to the manual, Wario wants to get treasures to get his own Castle and make Mario jealous. Once he hear about a statue of Peach being robbed by a gang of very rich pirates - the Black Sugar Gang, led by Capt.Syrup -, he goes into a quest to go to their island and gets as many treasures as possible, in his goal toward having his own castle.

Ok, enough about the plot. Let's go to the action.


At the start of the game, you're thrown onto a beach surrounded by cliff-sides.


Apparently named Rice Beach

Treasure Hunter Wario jumping into action.
That gameplay looks very similar to Super Mario Land 2, but Wario's jumps are really... weird. They speed up at 3/4 of their peak.


I wonder what those Hearts do.


Wario can attack using his elbow. This formerly solid-looking block cracked with one hit. Wario sure is strong!

Wario can also duck and crawl to fit into tight places. Hey... what's that over here? A pot?

After I got his by some bastard, I continued wandering through the level.


Hmm... How can I reach it down there?

Eventually a found more power-ups, which I found out to be garlic.


Oh, a trail of coins.

Then I found a ladder and climbed it down.


This looks like a no-go.

I climbed up the ladder and found some sort of door.


I wonder what's inside that cave....



Hey, what the fuck is this? A dead end?


Hmm, I wonder what he's doing with that big coin.

Wait, he's throwing it.



A door?

What the fuck? Is that a toll? That Capt.Syrup sure must be greedy if he makes his own crew pay to pass through doors.

Well, that goes for me. I sneak behind that enemy guy and enter the door...
