So yeah, I finally got an NES from a guy at work. Didn't get around to testing it today (Cause I didn't have any games), but I'm having a few problems. I'll try to be as specific as possible.
First off, it's nearly impossible to get it to turn on. Yes, I did plug it in. I got it to a point where it was turning on for about five minutes on demand, but then it stopped again.
While it was on, it wouldn't display on the screen. Once again I assure you it was plugged in correctly. At one point it threw a random spray of pixels onto the screen, too, but that's the best I got. It's not the game cart 'cause it did the same thing with all three.
So I opened it up to check the 72-pin connector. (I did a quick google search and found that's the most common problem area), and it's fine. It's nice and springy, and clean. In fact, that entire console is pretty darn clean, so I doubt it's dirt related. It's real shiny and stuff, not that shiny means anything.
So, my only thought on the On/Off issue is that mayby somethings wrong with the power cord, because it seems loose and falls out of the wall socket pretty easy. Also, when I did manage to get it into a tighter socket, it started getting kinda hot.
If I can get the thing back on, I'm going to try to use the RCA/AV cable ports (Whatever those are called) instead of the RF feed and see if that fixes that problem.
So, any help or advice? Anyone else have this sort of problem with their NES? Because I've dropped over $70 in total for the system and my games, and I really don't want to find out that my NES isn't going to work.
