I am writing to inform you of a new playoff format that we at the MKSL office have been working on during the offseason. It will basically consist of a total of 6 teams getting to the postseason this year instead of 4 like in years past. This will call for a complete overhaul of our current format
basically we will be splitting the 12 teams into 2 seperate "leagues" and split the leagues into two seperate 'divisions" these won't effect how many times you will play each team yet (we are still going with our 2 games against every team formula) but they will if we decide to add more games to the season
basically the top teams from each division will make the playoffs as will 2 "wildcard teams" the teams from each league with the besrt record that failed to win thier division. This will also meant that there will be 3 rounds in the playoffs instead of the usual 2. In the first round the two lower record teams in each league will play, then the winners of those games will play the higher record teams, then the league champions will play each other in the final. The top teams in each league will not have to play the first playoff round.
here is the divisions of the teams as of right now
Royal League
Mushroom Division
Team Dorkemon
The Coffee Masters
The Bolts
Flower Division
The Saracens
The Inferno
The Shooting Stars
---------------------
National League
Star Division
The Wasps
The Bannana Slammers
The Imperials
Hammer Division
The Rock Cannons
The Power Group
The Kick Crusaders
here is how last year would have went under this new format
The Rock Cannons, Team Dorkemon, The Wasps, and The Saracens will all have won thier divisions
The Rock cannons and Team Dorkemon won't play in the first round, they advance automatically because they have the best records
The Bannana Slammers and The Shooting Stars are the wildcard teams since they have the best record among non division winners, they make the playoffs under this new format
The Bannana Slammers would play the Wasps and the Shooting Stars would play the Saracens in the first round, the winners of those matches would advance and play the top teams in the next round, then the winners of those matches would play in the finals to determine the champion
this measure is one I am quite happy with as it will allow more teams to experience postseason play, but this format can't come into action unless the majority of team owners agree with it. We will hold a meeting to vote on this issue. 9 out of 12 owners must vote yes for these new rules to take effect
from the office of the comissioner of the Mushroom Kingdom Soccer League
((you are casting your owner's vote. a yes vote means you agree to both the new format and your team's division))
